Create Your NetID
Your NetID is your digital identity at UIUC. Follow the activation instructions sent to your email after acceptance to set up your credentials.
Set Up Two-Factor Authentication
Enhance your account security by enabling 2FA through the Identity Management portal. Download the Duo Mobile app for quick verification.
Log Into Self-Service
Visit selfservice.illinois.edu and enter your NetID and password. You'll have instant access to all your student information and services.

View your assigned registration time slot in the Registration tab

Search available courses by department, requirement, or keyword

Financial Services: Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid
View Your Bill
Access your current account balance, payment history, and due dates under the Financial tab. Bills are typically generated on the 10th of each month.
Make Payments
Pay online using credit card, electronic check, or set up automatic payments. International students can use Flywire for currency conversion.
Access Financial Aid
View awarded aid, accept/decline loans, and check disbursement status. Complete required documents through the connected FAFSA portal.
Personal Information: Updating Your Profile
Contact Information
Update your local and permanent addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts. Ensuring accuracy helps the university reach you with important information.
Privacy Settings
Control what information is visible in the campus directory and to other students. FERPA restrictions can be set to protect your educational records.
Identity Management
Update your preferred name, pronouns, and gender identity. You can also manage email forwarding preferences and password security.

Troubleshooting and Support: Help When You Need It
I can't log into my Self-Service account
Try resetting your password through the NetID Center. If you're still having trouble, contact the Technology Services Help Desk at 217-244-7000 or [email protected].
I see a registration hold on my account
Common holds include outstanding balances, missing immunization records, or academic probation. Click on the hold in Self-Service to see which department you need to contact to resolve it.
My financial aid isn't showing on my account
Financial aid typically disburses 10 days before the semester begins. Check that you've completed all requirements and accepted your awards. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 217-333-0100 for assistance.
